Supervise Marine Work for WSH (Formerly known as shipyard Safety supervisor course) (SWSHMI)
This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of supervisor assigned to oversee or supervise any work or process in the shipyard to carry out the work or process safely and without any risk to health.
1. Explain and interpret salient WSH legislations and other requirements relevant to the marine industry
2. Describe the WSH duties and responsibilities of a supervisor in marine industry
3. Conduct a briefing on shipyard general safety and explain the Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedure to shipyard Workers and contractors.
4. Identify WSH hazards, evaluate and control risks in marine industry in accordance with risk management.
5. Carry out WSH inspections in accordance with organizational inspection procedure
6. Conduct incident investigation and prepare report in accordance with legal and other organisational requirements.
