20-May-2022 10:10 AM

The Water Efficiency Management System is designed to help organizations better manage water usage. With the help of government agencies and industry stakeholders, the Singapore Standards Council, has developed Singapore Standard SS 577 on Water Efficiency Management Systems.

Why?

By identifying, planning and implementing measures to achieve water savings through systematic management, the SS577:2012 standard enables organizations to assess and account for their water usage. For water users to adopt in order to improve water use and water efficiency, SS577:2012 provides a set of frameworks and guidelines, along with recommended tools and best practices.

Aside from monitoring, measuring, documenting, reporting, and designing and procuring practices related to water efficiency, Standard SS577:2012 also specifies requirements for sanitation systems, processes, and personnel. SS577:2012 water efficiency specification also assists organizations with creating a Water Efficiency Management Plan (WEMP), which identifies water-saving measures and develops an action plan to manage water resources.

The following are the benefits of SS577:2012 :

  • Improve water efficiency with a systematic approach.
  • Reduce operational costs and save water.
  • Developing and reporting a water efficiency management plan (WEMP).
  • Assuring stakeholders about water issues.
  • Enhancing the corporate image as a green sustainability company.
