Shipyard Safety Instruction Course (GT, PT, Hot Work Trade)

The Shipyard Safety Instruction Course is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry. Shipyard workers are required to get knowledge of the SSIC before they start work at the shipyard.

In SSIC, there are 3 types of work General Trade, Painter Trade, and Hot-Work Trade. SDF Funding Available for each trades.

Course Content of General Trade (GT)

  • Fire and Explosion
  • Specialized Operations & Material Handling
  • Mechanical and Electrical workers
  • working at height & in confined space

Course Content of Painter Trade (PT)

  • Know the proper usage of Personal protective equipment
  • Understand the safe storage of paints
  • Know the Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) Meetings
  • Know the Worker’s safety checklist for painting works

Course Content of Hot-Work Trade

  • Types of Hot-Work
  • Characteristics of flammable substances
  • How vapors/gases can accumulate in confined spaces
  • How fires/explosions are caused
  • Case studies on shipyard fire and explosion accidents
  • Safety measures for preventing fires/explosions
