Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (Hot-work Trade) (HWT)
• The SSIC is a mandatory WSH course for all workers in the shipbuilding and ship repair industries.
• Before they begin working at a shipyard, shipyard workers must complete the SSIC.
• According to the Workplace Safety and Health Act (Shipbuilding and Ship-repair), a person must not do any hazardous work in a shipyard or onboard a ship in a Harbour unless he has received a safety and health training course approved by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health.
• Understand your legal obligations when it comes to workplace safety and health
• Identify all types of industrial safety signs
• When working with different hazards, take safety precautions
• In case of fire or emergency, evacuate
• Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and industrial safety signs
• (Singaporean or Singaporean PR) SDF funding is available for this course.
